As you can see below, the Council has commenced the consultation process for proposed facility upgrades in the Leura Cascades and Carrington Park Precinct. With exquisite timing, the Council’s information sessions on the Precinct Plan are being conducted on the very same day as our “Rally to Reopen Our Road”, albeit in the afternoon.
While we understand that the Council is treating the Precinct Plan as a quite separate project to replacement of the Cliff Drive culvert, it is hard not to see them as being anything other than inextricably linked.

How can I get involved?
Council is holding a Community Information Session on the Leura Cascades precinct plan. You are invited and encouraged to attend. This is an opportunity to learn about the project and share your ideas to inform the design of the plan.
- Date: Saturday 26 November 2022
- Venue: Solitary Restaurant, 90 Cliff Drive, Katoomba
- Time: 2:00pm – 4:00pm in two sessions as follows:
- 2:00pm: A one-hour meeting-style session with a presentation by Council staff.
- 3:00pm: A one-hour drop-in style session for one-on-one conversations with staff.
Both sessions offer the same information and the opportunity to ask questions, engage in discussion and provide your feedback.
Accordingly, if you or your organisation are attending the aforementioned Council information sessions (after attending the Rally of course), it might be worth asking for an explanation as to how residents and visitors will access the improved facilities at Leura Cascades while Cliff Drive remains closed to through traffic.
In the meantime, our Streetscapes, Parks and Reserves Standing Committee will be reviewing the Council’s proposals with a view to co-ordinating an Alliance submission on the Precinct Plan.
